Student Club and Organization Fair: What to Expect
by Kevin Dillinger
As many students may have noticed in their email, the annual Student Club and Organization Fair is going to be taking place Tuesday, January 28th in the McCann Lounge. For those of you who are curious about what this fair is about, I interviewed the Director of Student Activities Nicole Buccalo, the coordinator of the fair.
Q: What kind of student would this fair be of interest to Nicole?
A: “This is for students who are looking to get connected on campus. Students who want to add some ‘umph’ to their resumes, and students that would like some leadership experience and like hot coco.”
Q: What would you say to students who are already in organizations? Would you recommend that they come as well?
A: “Yeah definitely, it is a good opportunity to start networking with other clubs or organizations. They can also start connecting for future collaborations. They can get an idea of what other clubs are doing.”
Q: What are some of the benefits of being in a student run organization?
A: “It really gives you an opportunity to do the things you want to do that might not be offered in the classroom. It also gives you the opportunity to network with people in your field or interest area. You are developing a skillset that is needed in the everyday world.”
Q: For the freshmen and first timers on campus, what should they expect?
A: “They will get a chance to see what we have on campus and how to get involved. They get to meet new students and see what upcoming events we have. Mostly they get to see why Defiance is so awesome.”
The student organization fair will take place from 11am to 1pm and the McCann Lounge is located inside Hubbard Hall. Students who collect 3 tickets from 3 tables will be awarded with hot coco. With opportunities to network, possibilities of meeting new friends, a boost to your resume, and warm coco in this blistering cold weather, it is almost hard to find a reason not to go and check out the fair.
