DCMB Falls to the Grizzlies
(Defiance, OH) Our very own Defiance College Men’s Basketball Team traveled to Franklin, Indiana this past Saturday to take on the Grizzlies. Defiance was looking to turn their season around, coming into the game at 3-15, and 2-9 in conference play, against Franklin, who came in 5-13, and 4-7.
The weren’t able to start the game how they wanted, ending the first half trailing by 7. They were down by 12 at one point in the first half, but an offensive spurt helped shorten that lead to 7.
The Grizzlies came out just as strong in the second half, outscoring the Jackets 44-31. The final of this game was the Grizzlies 86, and our Yellow Jackets 66.
The Jackets were led by Trevon Grimes who had 16 points, followed by Kiuwan Graham with 14 points. Graham was also able to pull down 9 rebounds of his own, followed by Allante Wheeler with 8 more to add. The team had 6 assists total.
The Jackets also had 15 turnovers, while shooting just 34.8% from the floor. The Jackets were able to score 31 points off the bench.
After the game, we caught up with sophomore Keith McClure, who had this to say, “It was a well fought game by both teams but Franklin made more plays toward the end of the game to get the win. We just have to keep improving each day as a team and putting it all together.”
The Jackets look to turn around the season this Wednesday, at Anderson, at 7:30. If you see a member of the Men’s Basketball team, make sure that you wish them good luck, and as always, Go Jackets!
