Jackets Fall to Lions
(Defiance, OH). The Defiance College Men’s Basketball team traveled down to Cincinnati to take on the Mount St Joseph Lions this past Saturday. The Lions were deemed to be a strong opponent, coming into the game at 10-3 on the conference, while the Jackets were looking to turn their season around coming in at 2-11.
The Jackets looked to come out hot to start the game, but could not stop Mount’s offense. The Lions were able to put up 50 points to the Jackets 32. Mount shot an impressive 72% during the first half, while out Yellow Jackets hit 46% of their own.
The Jackets tried to turn it around the second half, but could not recover from a strong first half by Mount. The final of the game was 92-57, with the Jackets falling to 2-12 in the conference.
The Jackets finished the game shooting 38%, while Mount was still able to keep an impressive 62% from the field. DC hit 8 3 pointers during the game, and was able to pull down a total of 26 rebounds. They were able to add 8 assists, and pull 30 points from the bench.
The leading scorer for the Jackets was sophomore Jordan Maschino, who had 12. Desmoines Whitney and Noah Goodrich were able to add 9 a piece. Maschino led the team with 11 boards, while Allante Wheeler was able to add 3. Whitney led the team with 3 assists.
After the game, we caught up with Noah Goodrich, and he had this to say, “We’ve been playing well in stretches but just haven’t been able to put a full game together lately. But we’re really looking forward to getting one Wednesday night against Bluffton.”
As Noah stated, the Jackets look to take one from the Beavers this Wednesday, at home! To add to this, it is Pink Night to help support Breast Cancer, along with prizes and a bake sale with the proceeds benefiting Project Pink!
