On August 27th, 2026, Defiance College held an event named the “Defiance College Community Fair,” to introduce some of the local organizations around the city of Defiance, several religious organizations and churches; ZONTA; the Visitor’s Bureau; the fire department; and more.

For those of you who are avid readers, there is a public library on 320 Fort Street, Defiance Ohio. You can apply for a library card online or go into the library to get one, as long as you have a form of ID with you. The process is free for Ohio residents, but costs $45 for anyone who is not from the state.

Another great organization is NOCAC, or the Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission, is an organization that has the goal to help out those in need, whether it be with food or emergency housing. They also accept donations and volunteers, so if you would like to help out the community, they’re a great organization to check out.

The Defiance County Historical Society is an organization determined to keep the history of this county alive. For those of you who have not lived here before coming to college and like learning about history, this is a great resource to learn more about the county you now go to college in.

Healthy U is unique in this event, being the only restaurant style business to attend the event. They have a variety of protein shakes and energizing teas, so there may be something that suits your taste there, especially if you enjoy the healthier side of things. They are located at 515 Clinton Street, if you ever want to check them out.

The Community Pregnancy Center is a free pregnancy clinic located at 1997 North Clinton Street, and they are dedicated to helping women who are experiencing motherhood, especially for the first time. They offer pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting classes, STI tests, and post- abortion support. Their website includes a lot of information regarding this topic.

The Main Street Visitor’s Bureau is an organization that tries to attract tourists of all kinds to the Defiance area. They have an event coming up, the Defiance Rib Fest, on September 26th, with a $10 entrance fee. Their website includes communities and organizations all found here in Defiance. If you are looking for things to do within this city, then they are a good thing to check out, especially since their website is easily accessible.

All in all, the city of Defiance has many great opportunities for students to get involved with community events!
