Hey, Yellow Jackets!, I hope you guys are having a good week so far. Today, I want to talk about the small classes at Defiance College!
One thing that sets Defiance College apart from many other large universities is the ratio of professor to student. The small class sizes provide many benefits to the students that attend the school, including the fact that they get to interact much more often with their professors. This gives students the chance to ask questions a lot more easily. Plus, the professors can get to know their students better, and if they see them struggling in class, they can reach out and help. This allows the students to get the attention of their professors more easily than if they were in a large lecture hall.
Smaller class sizes allow students to participate in the classroom more and talk to other students too. Because the group of students together is so small, it may make it easier to talk to them and share ideas. Sometimes, in a large class, students can become shy or afraid to speak up, or simply not feel as comfortable speaking up. This is especially true for international students who may not be as comfortable or skilled in the English language.
Students will also get to know their peers better, and they may even become friends. Since the class size is so small, students may find themselves interacting with some of their peers more often than others, and be able to ask them questions, as well as get their help on different projects or activities.
Although for some, small class sizes can be a negative, as larger class sizes allow for meeting more people and interacting with different groups. I do think, though, that for many students, having a small class size can be much more beneficial to them as a student. Having a small class size is definitely one thing that makes the Defiance College experience memorable, as students get to interact with their professors and peers much more than they would otherwise.
