Many DC students wonder what to do in the weekends or off days. Defiance may be a small town, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is nothing for students to do. There are several places that are worth visiting for those students who want to go enjoy something different off campus and get to know the area better.

Old Fort Defiance Park would be a great choice to start with. This historical park is located at the point where Maumee and Auglaize rivers meet and features both historical elements of the past and the best view in the city. Students will be able to walk around Fort Grounds, learn from the markers and enjoy the riverside view.

Another good place to spend time outdoors for students who like being outside is Independence Dam State Park. This state park features 591 acres of territory and located along Maumee River. It provides students that enjoy nature with opportunities for hiking, fishing, camping, picnicking and boating.

There is also another good location to spend time outside, the Defiance City Reservoir. This location contains walking trails, fishing opportunities, natural habitats, and a disc golf course. The trails around Defiance City Reservoir are great to walk on, cycle, and spend time outdoors.

Whoever is interested in learning more about the city of Defiance, I recommend the Andrew L. Tuttle Memorial Museum where one can get information regarding its history by exploring the different objects contained in this museum.

Some entertaining activities that one can participate in Defiance include Putt-Putt Golf & Games, where the public gets a chance to participate in mini golf, go karts, batting cages, laser tag, and indoor simulator games. Bowling and a movie theater are other entertaining activities available in Defiance.

Living in a smaller city sometimes means you have to look a little harder for things to do. Defiance provides a lot of options beyond DC campus, such as visiting historical sites, going out, enjoying nature or doing other things. If you are interested in visiting places which are not connected to your college life, Defiance City can provide it.
