Hey, Yellow Jackets! It’s Rafael, and today I’m going to tell you about the new International Student Association (ISA) at Defiance College. Did you know that Defiance College is host to 23 different nationalities? That means there is a variety of cultures and traditions on campus, including food, religion, and festivals, to name just a few. This also means that there are a lot of fun things to share and celebrate with one another.
The President of the Club is Henrique Wozniak, and Nicole Hoffman is the Vice President. They both had the brilliant idea to bring the international students together so that they could share their own experiences with the Defiance community, and with people that are in the same position: being students from abroad in the United States.
Being an International student means leaving your family and connecting with new people and new environments, and this one of the most important goals of the association: to make people feel at home even though they are far from their family and friends. I truly believe that this will have a positive result with the students and with the community in general, because they will learn about different cultures, and in doing so, they will come to respect the cultures and learn that there are other countries with a mindset different to their own.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the people around the college and also in the city are very accepting and respectful with the international students. The ISA will make this situation even better for us international students, and with parties and foods, we want to build a strong connection with the community. Now we can show ourselves to everyone at both Defiance College and the city of Defiance!
