  • Faculty Guest Contribution: Why Is It Called Tenzer?

    Have you wondered about the history of Tenzer Hall?  In 1912 Herman B. Tenzer, who ran a local lumber company, became a Defiance College Trustee and member of the Executive Committee.  Faculty member (and later President) Albert Caris’s history of the College written about 1915 said that Tenzer and his wife were very supportive of the College, and wished to donate money to build a new building.

    Construction began in 1917, but a severe setback occurred when DC’s President P.W. McReynolds and his wife were killed in a car-train accident at a railroad crossing in Indiana on October 3, 1917.

  • DCSB: Go Purple, Be Gold

    Defiance College Softball played their first inter-squad scrimmage on Saturday, September 19th.  The double-header scrimmage was hosted at The Sal and was a matchup between Purple & Gold, teams composed of DCSB players.  A family potluck dinner was hosted by the Yellow Jackets afterwards to introduce all of the new squad members and their families.

  • New Master’s Program At DC

    A new change is coming to one of the premier programs here at Defiance College. The Athletic Training is now turning into a Master’s program, where no longer offering a Bachelor’s entry-level degree. Although this change is relevant to DC, it is not exclusive to just Defiance College.

  • Special Olympics: DCSB Hits a Homerun With Service

    Defiance College Softball (DCSB) traveled to the heart of Northwest Ohio the weekend of September 12th for the State Special Olympics.  The DC squad volunteered their day towards helping some of what DCSB considers some of the most incredible individuals in the state of Ohio. The age groups for the State-Level event varied from young children to experienced adults.

  • DC Tennis Hosts Manchester, Falls in Competitive Bout

    The Defiance Women’s Tennis (DCWT) squad took on Manchester University in an HCAC match on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. The Yellow Jackets fought in an 0-9 bout which was not accurately depicted by the score.

  • Supplemental Instruction: What Does It Mean?

    Defiance College is a place where students find themselves socially, but when it comes to academics many students underestimate the rigor compared to high school. Luckily, many services are offered at DC to help students keep on track while still allowing you to have fun outside of the classroom

    For the academic realm of the college experience, Student Academic Support Services (SASS) offers SI study groups for students to receive additional outside instruction on class material.

  • Memmer Bags a Brace as DC Beats Bethany

    The Defiance women’s soccer team won their first game on Saturday, September 12, 2015 against Bethany College of West Virginia with a final score of 2-1. Defiance improves to 1-3 on the season with the victory.
