  • Special Olympics: DCSB Hits a Homerun With Service

    Defiance College Softball (DCSB) traveled to the heart of Northwest Ohio the weekend of September 12th for the State Special Olympics.  The DC squad volunteered their day towards helping some of what DCSB considers some of the most incredible individuals in the state of Ohio. The age groups for the State-Level event varied from young children to experienced adults.

  • DC Tennis Hosts Manchester, Falls in Competitive Bout

    The Defiance Women’s Tennis (DCWT) squad took on Manchester University in an HCAC match on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. The Yellow Jackets fought in an 0-9 bout which was not accurately depicted by the score.

  • Supplemental Instruction: What Does It Mean?

    Defiance College is a place where students find themselves socially, but when it comes to academics many students underestimate the rigor compared to high school. Luckily, many services are offered at DC to help students keep on track while still allowing you to have fun outside of the classroom

    For the academic realm of the college experience, Student Academic Support Services (SASS) offers SI study groups for students to receive additional outside instruction on class material.

    The Defiance women’s soccer team won their first game on Saturday, September 12, 2015 against Bethany College of West Virginia with a final score of 2-1. Defiance improves to 1-3 on the season with the victory.

  • Student Club & Organization Fair: Review

    This Thursday, Defiance College held its annual Student Club and Organization Fair to advertise the different clubs offered on campus. Not only did this fair advertise the multiple groups on campus, but it also helped students find others that have similar interests and allowed for new friendships and bonds to grow. This fair also gave Yellow Jackets a chance to get to know and interact with the staff and student-leadership who often provide valuable guidance on the direction of clubs here at DC, which gives our campus a chance to collectively communicate together as a community. Interactions such as these are what separate Defiance College from larger, more closed off universities.

  • Taylor’s Talk: A College Advice Column

    Classes have started and things have finally begun to settle down, right? This may be the period where you find yourself having extra time between practices, class, and the occasional Netflix binge.

    Initially, looking at the campus on the weekdays you might assume there is not much going on considering Defiance College is not a huge academic institution. If you do not pay attention to your DC email, you may not hear much of anything.

    As a DC returner, I can say that is flat wrong.

    Many students on Defiance College’s campus may ask, “what is BASA?”

    BASA, formally known as The Black Action Students Association, is a growing intercultural club at Defiance College that focuses on offering perspective and understanding on African American culture while educating its membership on relevant current day issues. Open to all students at Defiance College, BASA aims to build a relationship between different cultures to ensure collective unity while creating a unique environment where people can meet and state their opinion without being judged.
